Martinsicuro, Abruzzo

For peace and tranquillity, head to Martinsicuro in Abruzzo. A quiet seaside town by the mouth of the Tronto river with a beautiful sandy beach, there is a promenade here lined with pretty palm trees.

There also is plenty of history in this town, which has ancient origins. You can visit the archaeological museum here, as well as the Tower of Charles V and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Martinsicuro is around a 45-minute drive from Pescara airport. Around €150,000 would buy you a spacious, 3-bedroom flat here.

Monopoli, Puglia

With a charming town, white-washed houses, 13km of coastline and four Blue Flag beaches, Monopoli is a great spot to buy a holiday home or forever home. If you enjoy activities and watersports, it’s also a great place to be as many of the resorts in this area offer windsurfing, beach volleyball, jet skiing, sailing and more.

Like Martinsicuro, there is a lot of history here. In the centre of town, you’ll find a small castle surrounded by ancient walls. Meander through its winding streets, enjoy its beautiful piazzas and take a stroll along the harbourside.

Monopoli is just a short, 45-minute drive away from Bari, the capital of Puglia. There you’ll find an airport and other amenities.
