Easy to reach

Quarteira is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Faro airport by car, making it an ideal location for regular trips between the rest of Europe and Portugal. There are also regular buses if you do not have a car. The nearest train station is in Loule, around eight miles away.

Its central location means you can easily reach the rest of the Algarve, with the popular towns of Loule and Almancil and some world-class golf courses just a short drive away.

Life in Quarteira

Quarteira offers the best of both worlds. It is thriving in the summer and quiet, but not ghostly, in the winter. As such, it is a popular location with locals.

In the summer, it is hard to distinguish the beaches of Quarteira and Vilamoura. Head to the exhilarating waterpark nearby or browse the lively daily and weekly food and flea markets. In the winter, you can enjoy much of the beach, restaurants and markets to yourself as the tourists head home.

Property

Quarteira is mostly made up of apartment blocks, many of which enjoy gorgeous sea views and are just minutes from the golden sand beach. More affordable apartments tend to be in the older buildings.

If you’d prefer a townhouse or villa, you will need to head to the outskirts and will often have to compromise on view and proximity to the sea.

Apartments in older blocks start at around €160,000 and are often very close to the sea. New build apartments are from around €225,000. Townhouses cost from €275,000, and villas are from around €375,000.
