Charming Moorish architecture

Loulé was an important Moorish city between the 8th and 12th century and reminders of this influence are still very much present today in the architecture. Some of the most beautiful remnants of this time include the castle, the church of St Clemente and the Islamic baths, which have only recently been discovered.

The town also boasts quaint cobbled streets that wind together in a maze-like fashion, before opening out onto vast squares.
