Rumour has it that soon, British visitors to France will no longer need to isolate on return to the UK. With this in mind and with travel rules easing generally, you may wish to book a trip to view properties soon!

There are a few things that you should consider beforehand to make your move as smooth and as stress-free as possible.

Sort out your finances

You should get your finances sorted and ready to go before your trip – you don’t want to find your dream property and lose it because you don’t have the funds! Before you take a viewing trip, you may want to consider speaking directly to a currency specialist, such as Smart Currency Exchange.

Decide on the location and type of property

Make sure you have a good idea of the type of property, the location, the size and so on before you take your viewing trip. It would also be worth thinking about what you would be willing to compromise on and things you wouldn’t.

Plan your days

Make sure you know which properties you’d like to visit and leave yourself enough time to get from one property to the next. You may even wish to spend your first couple of days driving around to familiarise yourself with the areas, get a good idea of how close each property is to certain amenities and get a feel for the place as a whole.

Let the estate agent know what you want

If your estate agent has a clear idea about what you’re looking for, the process of viewing properties will be a lot smoother. They’ll be able to plan a viewing trip this is fully beneficial to you.

Take a break

Take the time to think over the properties you’ve seen to get the most out of your trip. If you pack in too much, you’ll lose track of each property and won’t have the time to consider whether you really like them or not. It’s important to have some downtime to mull things over.

What are viewing trips like in France at the moment?

The only difference when viewing properties in France now compared to before the pandemic is that you will be encouraged to take certain safety measures. For example, you may be required to wear a mask inside the property, use hand sanitiser and use your own car to travel between properties rather than the agent’s. Other than that, everything else should be the same!
